My Good Deed!

Today I took advantage of the extra personal day that was given by my company to do some volunteer work. Me and two co-works/friends of mine, Hillary and Cynthia decided we would go to the Houston Food Bank to lend a hand. We first started by loading up some trucks with boxes of food that were on their way to different Pantry's across the city. One man said that his alone feeds approx. 200 families!! We also helped pack pantry boxes with various items which included bottled water, canned veggies, fruit, chili and basically any other items that we could find that were available.

It was a great workout! I would like to start setting time aside to start volunteering in various areas, although it would make me really sad I would like to volunteer at the Humane Society or SPCA and would like to go to Star of Hope again to help serve Lunch. All in all it makes me feel great to lend a helping hand!

As you can see my outfit isn't a polished look...but I was definitely comfortable!

A Grey Friday...

I wasn't feeling all that well on Friday so wearing grey and black were perfect colors for me and I decided to dress up a little anyway! I'm really starting to feel more comfortable wearing belts now that I have a slimmer body. I'm going to start growing a collection of them along with my wardrobe...

Here is what I'm wearing:

  • Grey Merona Turtle Neck - Target
  • Haggar Slacks - Ross
  • Belt - NY&Co
  • Maripe Peep Toe Heels - Rack Room

My Losing Streak...

Okay, so after experiencing extremely uncomfortable bouts of acid reflux and the doctor telling me that I would be on medication for the rest of my life, I couldn't accept that so I knew that I had to make a change in my life. From that point on I cut out sodas, fast foods, anything fried and started working out at Curves. It took a little while for me not to take medication for the acid reflux but I started to learn what foods really messed with me and just stopped eating them. I stopped taking medication at the beginning of the year and only have issues once in a great while. I dropped about 15lbs and lost a ton of inches working out at Curves and well I stopped going for a few months and then decided to join 24Hour Fitness with my man.

Anyway, I started working out with a trainer back in July and boy it made all the difference in the world! If only I could afford to keep going!! Here are a few pictures dated Jan. 2006, May 2007, March 2008, Sept. 2008.

I haven't reached my goal but I know I'll get there one day! Thanks to having a great support system (my boyfriend Larry, friend Hillary and my Mom, Oh Yeah I can't forget my GRRREAT Trainer!).
